What happens when a new star system begins to form near a very large starbase? What if that starbase is in the patrol zone of an extremely successful Task Force, Task Force 47, in Obsidian Fleet?
What do you do? Normally, you wouldn’t change your base of operations to said “brainiac” station. Normally, you wouldn’t transfer he Commanding Officer of a tiny Nova class vessel to oversee a staff of thousands safeguarding of a newly forming solar system from pirates and mercenaries...
But these aren’t normal times.
Why? Why would the federation send the screwballs from the tiniest ship in the fleet to run one of the largest and most strategic stardocks? A crew that has either killed or lost members of their crew in every mission they've (which they usually failed at) in the one and a half years of their existence together?
Because they're a team. They rely on each other. They work with each other. They take their pride in the ability to get the job done, even if the job seems impossible. Who else but a team that thinks creatively .. together?
Skunkworks... Gold Rush... with a little Steampunk thrown in. Electrifying!
Starbase 47 is a seemingly “run of the mill” station but under her enormous facade lies the secrets of Starfleet’s newest technologies. She is the skunkworks, the future, the home of mad science and the harbor for those that have a little too much brains and not enough instinct for self preservation.
Get your goggles... we've got some seriously mad science to get to...

I. Command Staff OOC Addresses
Salvete!
Well, thanks to Trent (aka Sally) there's been an article on about our new "Drive Thru WIndow feature" on Tesla. Of course, he's a real stinker and managed to get cheese in.
It was a pretty decent week for posts, the plots are starting to percolate around. We have a new member as well, the USS Swiftsure has a new 2XO, welcome aboard to Chen "Karin" who will be serving under Radcliffe.
What's up? Well, we surpassed last month's posts and that's what I was hoping for with all of the LOAs and lesser activity. If we can maintain this pace, a nice steady postcount will sustain us over the long run.
We begin July with a a smile. Why Jaynie? Because by the third week of July, our SIM in both its Galileo and Tesla combined incarnations will hit the 2 year mark. That's a great accomplishment! I'll be reminiscing more over the next month, pulling out some old chestnuts along the way. So, if you are a long standing crewbie, and you have something to say -- drop me a PM.
Something is currently wrong with the command mailing list so please just send it directly via PM.
Jason is headed out to Germany for a week so please contact me directly if you need command questions answered and I will pawn them off ... I mean address them appropriately.
Curate ut valeatis,
Jaynie
P.S. I went to a lecture this week about biodiversity and sustainability and the hippy wannabees were all talking about Humanure but the guy who was actually the hippy -- the bald old man who'd been a long haired Berkeley hippy in the sixties, and was a soil scientist looked at them and said, "You mean Poop." See, I agree, call it what it is.
==========
I'm excited that we passed the 60 mark this week in posts. See the above referenced big surprise. I'll be out of touch this week traveling to Germany. I keep telling Jaynie I'll be close enough to lob things at the Belgian. Inside joke for those of you who've been around that long.
I'll return, hopefully, to an overflowing box of wonderful prose. In keeping with the spirit of travel, and pride month, I offer you this hilarious way to tell if your flight attendant is gay.
Regards,
Jason/Raul
